Exterminate those ellipses!
You … don’t … need … them.
Delete them now. All of them.
Go on, you can do it. You’ll feel much better after they are gone. All they are doing is cluttering up your manuscript.
Done it? Good. How do you feel now? Pretty damn good, I expect.
What are ellipses actually for?
An ellipsis is a series of three dots used to signal the omission of a word, phrase, paragraph or more from a quoted passage. Specifically in fiction, ellipses are used to indicate faltering speech or incomplete thoughts.
‘Wait a minute, I … oh my God! … I think … I think I know his plan!’
Exterminate those ellipses.
